As an Associate Counselor, you'll participate in the screening/assessment process, develop treatment plans, and assist clients through their transition process under the supervision of a licensed/qualified counselor or therapist. Key Responsibilities:

  • Screening and Assessment: Participate in the screening and assessment process under the supervision of a licensed or qualified counselor or therapist. Ensure completion within appropriate time frames as designated by State Regulatory, CARF, and agency standards.

  • Treatment Plan Development: Develop individualized treatment plans for clients in accordance with State Regulatory and CARF guidelines, demonstrating evolution based on assessment information. Plans must be created under the supervision of a licensed or qualified therapist.

  • Timely Correspondence: Complete all correspondence in a timely manner, ensuring accurate communication and documentation.

  • Clinical Team Meetings: Participate in clinical staffing and team meetings, providing feedback on all pertinent cases to support team-based client care.

  • Direct Service Provision: Adhere to the weekly direct service provision model, ensuring consistent and quality client interaction.

  • Service Documentation: Document all services provided in accordance with State Regulatory, CARF, and agency standards. Ensure entries are timely, in the designated format, and reference treatment plans appropriately.

  • Treatment Plan Oversight: Ensure that treatment plans, updates, and discharge summaries are reviewed and countersigned by a Qualified Addiction Professional.

  • Charting Compliance: Complete any file or charting deficiencies within the appropriate time frame, maintaining compliance with all standards.

  • Client Transition Support: Assist clients through the transition process, completing all necessary final correspondence such as transition summaries, plans, and letters.

  • Annual Training: Complete annual training identified through an individualized training plan, totaling 36 hours every two years, to maintain and enhance professional competencies.

  • Professional Relationships: Maintain positive professional relationships with referral sources, clients, and coworkers, adhering to the Code of Ethics and agency policies.

  • Crisis Management: Handle crisis situations as they occur, notifying the supervisor in accordance with agency policies.

  • Counseling Facilitation: Facilitate group counseling, group education, family conferences, and individual sessions. Emphasize examining attitudes, feelings, and behaviors that promote recovery, healthy decision-making, and improved problem-solving skills.

  • Company Goals and Objectives: Demonstrate interest in and support for the long-term and short-term goals and objectives of the company.

  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor, Program Director, Vice President, or Executive Team Member.

Education and/or Experience Qualifications:

  • A trainee that meets the requirements for registration, supervision, and professional development as set forth by either:

  • The Missouri Credentialing Board, Inc., OR

  • The appropriate board of professional registration with the Department of Economic Development for licensure as a psychologist, professional counselor, or social worker.

  • Illinois Requirements: Obtain CADC according to IL admin rule part 2060 within 2 years and renew as required.

  • A trainee that meets the requirements for registration, supervision, and professional development as set forth by the state's appropriate credentialing board.

Required License/Certification:

  • Applicant must be willing to become licensed in additional states, other than the state currently licensed in.

  • Applicant must be willing and comfortable with providing telehealth services to the individuals we serve.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of case management and rehabilitation methods, principles, and techniques, as they relate to mental health and substance use disorder treatment.

  • Knowledge of the policies, procedures, and regulations of the program to which the associate is assigned.

  • Basic knowledge of biological, cognitive-affective, and social bases of behavior.

  • Working knowledge of therapeutic theories and techniques, individual differences, and scientific methods or procedures of understanding and influencing human behavior.

  • Capable of employing methods and counseling techniques in an effective manner.

  • Ability to assist in conducting individual and group interventions.

  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
