Key job responsibilities

As a Software Development Engineer (SDE) on the Alkimia project, you will work on tools that accelerate the velocity by which services are deployed into new regions. You will develop systems that can discover the AWS resources underlying services, map their relationships, and generate the infrastructure-as-code templates that allow them to be newly deployed with minimal manual intervention. You will pqarticipate in the design, planning, development, and deployment of feature improvements and support the operations of a mission-critical tool built by builders for builders.Your contributions will directly impact SDO’s drive towards region flexibility and help builders spend more time focusing on what their code does, less time on where their code lives. Come join a team working on some of Amazon’s most complex problems and help us innovate.

About the team

The Region Expansion Accelerators (REXA) are a team of software development engineers working on Region Flexibility. We are designing and implementing tooling that reduces the level of effort service owners must expend in order to migrate or deploy their applications in a new region. We are actively developing two products:

Alkimia: Alkimia generates CDK assets for the resources that underlie a service. Alkimia helps service owners avoid the effort and errors involved in manually deploying resources to a new region. Region Flexibility Analyzer: The Region Flexibility Analyzer (RFA) provides visibility into a service’s readiness to migrate to a new AWS region. It evaluates a service’s dependencies, resources, and configs and alerts the service owner to any discovered inflexibilities.
