Who you are: You are an experienced Software Development Engineer, who is passionate about Smart Home and has a track record of success in delivering the highest quality IoT products. You have a commitment to teamwork, knowledge of IoT systems, strong CS fundamentals, experience build high-performance, highly-available, scalable systems, and strong communication skills (to both business and technical partners). You love working with engineering teams to build high quality software that just works. It makes people say “wow, that is amazing” and “I did not know you could do that”. You love working with a smart, talented team because you know that makes you better. You love solving complex problems with simple code.

What you will do here: You will be a technical lead on our most demanding, cross-functional projects. You will ensure quality of architecture and design of systems. Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions. Key job responsibilities

• Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market.

• Design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment and help lead fundamental changes in the industry.

• Create solutions to run predictions on distributed systems with exposure to innovative technologies at incredible scale and speed.

• Build distributed storage, index, and query systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, low cost, and easy to manage/use.

• Design and code the right solutions starting with broadly defined problems.

• Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software.

A day in the life

You will collaborate with other SDEs to build new architectures for Smart Home devices, and leverage the latest AWS technologies to build services to support them. You will functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions. Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
