Amazon Senior Program Manager, AWS Headcount Management in Seattle, Washington

The AWS Finance team is seeking a self-driven Sr. Program Manager to work across VP organizations to strategically shape AWS headcount management, organizational design, and operations via an internally created headcount management product.

Headcount management at AWS global scale is often complex, with multiple systems, mechanisms, and processes that, often do not provide the flexibility that individual teams or organizations require to run their businesses. We are building the next gen headcount management system for the future at AWS and seeking a highly driven program management professional to help us build the accompanying processes and mechanisms to drive adoption and change management across AWS. This will require working across teams that span multiple geographies to gain alignment, design, and execute on scalable headcount management and tracking programs, and implementing new standards across different organizations within the company. This requires working effectively with global business owners at all levels in Utility Computing, Sales and Marketing, Infrastructure, Recruiting, Finance, HR, and other central teams to ensure the efficacy of our programs.

This Sr. Program Manager executes with a strategic focus yet is detail-oriented, must have solid analytical skills, demonstrates strong project management skills, and has the ability to gather business and technical requirements across teams to drive systems and change management processes. In addition, (s)he will partner with the different stakeholder groups to plan, deliver, test, deploy, and improve business solutions. This PM will need to roll up their sleeves, work independently, and have an extremely high level of ownership and accountability. Cross-team coordination, project management, and excellent communication skills are essential!

Key job responsibilities

• Collaborate with program management peers, product/tech teams, and cross-functional customers to drive org adoption of Headcount Management Tool.

• Represent the voice of the customer in developing new features or functionality within the tool; prioritize between competing requests, understand and provide input on trade-off decisions, and develop change management strategies for evolving tool functionality.

• Support the development of sustainable training content across a variety of mediums to facilitate ongoing user education; provide guidance, training, and support of admins and end users of the tool across AWS.

• Communicate program updates, SOP changes, and overall progress to leaders and cross functional stakeholders.

• Support large scale leadership re-organizations by executing bulk administrative actions in the tool based on business inputs.

• Be a trusted advisor to internal customers; consult on AWS HC management best practices and provide guidance on how to maximize use of the tool to provide value for the business.

• Identify gaps and lead HC management projects where no single threaded owner is clear; unite various stakeholders to collectively address common pain points across AWS.

A day in the life

You'll work with multiple personalities across Finance, HR, the AWS Business, and Roster Developers to bridge the gap between Tech solutions and the end users of our internal headcount platform. You'll work with stakeholders around the world to refine how their organizations utilize the platform, which will include leading training, data migration, and consulting on best practices to drive headcount management at scale. Whenever and wherever possible, you'll seek to align on a single source of truth for headcount data and eliminate manual processes and excel trackers while taking every opportunity to make life easier for your customers.

About the team

The AWS Headcount Program Management Team sits under AWS Central Finance organization. Our customers are the entire AWS organization and we represent their voices in the development of future features for the tool while simultaneously developing and sharing best practices for using the tool. We work alongside a robust FinTech team of Product Managers, UX Designers, and SDMs to build the best possible tool for our customers.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of program or project management experience

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of driving process improvements experience

  • Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $92,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
