We are seeking a strong Principal Product Manager -Technical who can raise the bar and lead our team - informing product strategy and vision. You will press into how 'things have always been done' in order to develop the right processes and create measurable output criteria.

In this role, you will have end-to-end ownership of the business strategy and influence on the software development roadmap. You will be expected to create the long-term product vision and roadmap, influence partner teams towards your vision, and determine and build business metrics to help prioritize and drive execution towards the vision. You should be comfortable engaging with all types of customers and stakeholders, and effectively communicate to both technical and non-technical audience. The technology we build is backbone of the compensation experience for Amazon's employees worldwide, so the products you own will have cross-team and organization-wide impact. Additionally, we are a part of the Global Talent Management and Compensation, where our Compensation vision and roadmap is critical to supporting our growing, diverse population of employees, as well as powering innovation to support strategic cross-cutting organizational goals.

You will bring a think big mentality, evaluating current business and technical needs to define the work backwards vision and multi-year roadmap priorities in order to support the largest, smartest and most demanding customers on the planet. Your role will ask you to elevate the team to be better, bolder - setting a high bar to execute against the product visions while continuing to influence partner teams supporting Compensation goals.

You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where delivery time for new products and features is typically measured in months, while building and executing on a long-term product vision.

The ideal Principal Product Manager, Tech for ACT, will:

  • Have a strong ability to manage competing priorities and maintain the delivery of high quality customer service to employees and HR partners

  • Be capable of facilitating the best decisions for employees and the company in an environment of ambiguity and rapid change

  • Challenge commonly-held assumptions and reimagine the status-quo.

  • Thrive on the day-to-day collaboration with engineers and other product managers, reaching across team boundaries to make the right things happen

  • You work directly with key stakeholders in the business to understand customer problems, identify innovation opportunities, engage with engineers and collect customer feedback from studies, focus groups and testing.

  • Make high-judgement decisions independently in ambiguous situations; and translate data into digestible business intelligence and actionable insights

  • Have a strong ownership bias and an infectious desire to continually improve how things are done

  • You define the vision, own the roadmap, and drive the team to execute on that vision.

  • You lead “think-big” initiatives where the opportunity is yet to be defined. You are comfortable with ambiguity and bring clarity to complexity.

A day in the life

This role will own defining experiences for employees, managers, executives, recruiters and HR to help execute on the vision of enabling global Amazonians to take the next step in their career, earning their trust through clear and simple experiences, making tools and processes invisible.. This role is critical to ensuring the success of strategic projects supporting a rapidly growing and ever-evolving employee workforce. In this role, you will need to manage cross-functional communication, identify & mitigate risks to efficient delivery, decompose ambiguous problems into straightforward solutions, prioritize competing opportunities, and drive understanding for engineering teams as well as executives and stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product

  • Experience technical product management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with Engineers on product enhancements

  • Experience in project management methodologies, business analysis, or process improvement

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $161,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
