We are looking for exceptional senior backend services/API engineers to lead the design and build out of our new API and platform we are building for our partners and their customers. Engineers own the roadmap for their components and are empowered to make strategic and tactical decisions for their components.
As an engineer on our team you will be responsible for the development and delivery of the platform services for PayPal user experiences on multiple channels (web, mobile, etc.), as well as integrations with partners. You will partner with product teams to understand the requirements and have creative freedom to architect and design our platform with the an appropriate technology stack.

Ability to design, develop, and deploy distributed systems and components
Mentor junior developers including code and design reviews
Drive continuous improvement and automation initiatives to improve developer productivity and improve quality
Pilot new initiatives to keep our technology stack ahead of the curve
Work with partners in product, merchant, and payments to define and execute against a platform roadmap
Ten years experience building building services at web scale
Experience having operational ownership of production services, including working with devops and/or SRE teams
Demonstrated ability to learn from past experiences to have a strong opinion on recommended practices
Experience defining or building public APIs a strong plus
