We are looking for a high performing professional to join PayPal’s Consumer Risk Service Business Intelligence team and focusing on generating insights for not only risk management but also portfolio growth with risk as a lever.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop framework to understand and measure the overall financial impacts of risk decisions.
  2. Prepare, extract and analyze data covering a wide range of information from user profile to transaction history from large databases
  3. Design and implement an operational function with past, current, and proposed scenarios to produce forward forecasts for risk management and business decision purpose
  4. Apply innovative and scientific/quantitative analytical approaches to draw conclusions and make recommendations to answer business objectives
  5. Prepare presentation materials and analytics to support the review and discussion process with key partners

Responsibilities

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Operational Research, Financial Engineering, Economics, Information Systems or other quantitative discipline

  • 4+ years post Master or 2+ years post Doctorate working experience within Quantitative Research, Statistical Modeling and Data Analytics in payments, e-commerce, or other financial services industry

  • Ability to handle ambiguity and complex issues in a changing environment

  • Highly motivated and ability to work under pressure and ensure project deliverables by required deadlines

  • Proven experience in employing mathematical, statistical, data mining and machine learning algorithms on real world problems

  • Demonstrate excellent general business knowledge and business acumen. Previous experience with FinTech industry a plus

  • Creative problem solver, analytic thinker, and ability to learn new and complex concepts quickly

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Great inter-personal skills and able to collaborate with local and remote teams effectively

Required technical skills:

  • Experience in Financial ModelingProficiency in SQL, data/statistical analytics tools such as SAS, R, PythonFamiliar with typical data mining and machine learning algorithms such as linear regression, decision tree, logistic regression, and clustering's representation and implementationAdvanced MS Excel (with VBA)
