GL ACCOUNTANT

Location: 4 DAYS REMOTE, TUES ONSITE IN ROCKVILLE

Duration: 12 Months w/ option to extend

Salary: Negotiable

MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH G/L ACCOUNT RECONCILIATION, BANK RECONCILIATION, MONTHLY CLOSE PROCESS, EXCEL AND ERP SYSTEMS.

The contractor(s) will perform professional accounting/auditing work.

• The contractor(s) must understand Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP) and have strong knowledge and experience in financial statement preparation, the monthly and annual close process, and account reconciliation and analysis.

• Additionally, the contractor(s) must be proficient in using ERP accounting systems and other current technology, including the ability to perform advanced functions in Excel (pivot tables, vlookup, sumif, data sorts, etc.).

• Experience related to governmental accounting (governmental, enterprise, special revenue, internal service, and fiduciary funds, and capital projects, retiree pension payroll, etc.) is desired but not required.

  Duties may include, but are not limited to:

• preparing analyses of statements and reports and making recommendations regarding the analyses

• preparing records for the disbursement of funds

• preparing financial statements and disclosures for the Annual Financial Report and the Single Audit Report

• reconciling accounts in preparation of fiscal year-end and grant closings

• serving as financial resource person; preparing and analyzing bank reconciliation statements and preparing or grant reports

• preparing and accounting for retirees' pension payroll along with the associated Maryland State Tax withholding and IRS reporting.
