About the role:

Join Takeda as a Director, Field Medical Excellence Lead where you will be a key member of the US Field Medical leadership team, playing a critical role in driving the success of US Field Medical and ensuring the highest standards of scientific engagement and medical impact with healthcare professionals. You will elevate departmental capabilities through development and execution of US Field Medical department-wide programs and initiatives in collaboration with US Field Medical leaders and other internal stakeholders. Additionally, you will foster a culture of high performance, continuous improvement and innovation, while ensuring operational excellence and impact aligned to US Medical strategies and priorities. You will report to the VP, US Field Medical. This is a remote role.

How you will contribute:

  • Onboarding/Training/Development

  • In collaboration with US Field Medical leaders and other US Medical stakeholders, develop and implement US Field Medical departmental standards and processes for onboarding, training, and competency assessment.

  • Design and deliver comprehensive core skills and competencies training programs to ensure US Field Medical is equipped to optimally engage external stakeholders.

  • In collaboration with HR, design and deliver comprehensive skills and competencies training programs to ensure US Field Medical people leaders are optimally leading their teams and serving as valued partners to internal stakeholders (e.g., coaching, executive presence, influence, working in matrix).

  • Innovation

  • Maintain involvement in industry associations and meetings to identify and monitor external field medical and medical engagement innovation trends and opportunities.

  • Routinely conduct external benchmarking of US Field Medical departmental performance and leverage to seek areas for improvement and enhancement.

  • In partnership with US Field Medical leaders and other internal stakeholders, develop and oversee US Field Medical launch excellence framework and processes to ensure optimal readiness for and execution of product launches.

  • In partnership with US Field Medical leaders and other internal stakeholders, develop and oversee US Field Medical research support framework and processes to ensure effective and compliant contribution to Takeda-sponsored research.

  • Operations/Systems/Internal Communications

  • Provide oversight of US Field Medical KOL/HCP engagement monitoring framework and process in collaboration with US Field Medical leaders, Legal, and Ethics and Compliance.

  • With US Field Medical leaders, oversee US Field Medical department annual external engagement planning and approval process (e.g., team tactical plans, individual territory plans).

  • Support development and implementation of US Field Medical SOPs and guidance in close collaboration with US Field Medical leaders and governance partners.

  • In partnership with US Medical internal stakeholders, optimize US Field Medical adoption of data analytics and digital tools to enhance data-driven field medical external engagement planning and execution as well as insights gathering and reporting.

  • Evolve and advance field medical insights capabilities to ensure effective and streamlined capture, translation, and internal communication of high-quality insights to inform medical strategies and tactics.

  • Communicate US Field Medical CRM system enhancement needs and requirements to appropriate internal stakeholders and collaborate on implementation.

  • In partnership with US Field Medical leaders, develop and maintain optimized department-wide communications plan and reporting templates/dashboard for sharing US Field Medical activity metrics, impact and outcome performance measures, and insights with internal stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Required: ·

  • Doctoral degree in life/health sciences is preferred (PharmD, MD, PhD, or equivalent). Master’s degree in health sciences (e.g., MSN, NP, or PA) is the minimum requirement.

  • Thorough understanding of and experience working in the pharmaceutical industry, Medical Affairs, and Field Medical.

  • Proven record of strategic and analytical thinking, innovation, project leadership, and change implementation.

  • Proven record of teamwork, collaboration, and influencing/working in a matrix environment to accomplish goals and objectives.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage, lead and mentor individuals and/or teams.

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills.

  • Exhibits executive presence and ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.

  • Proficiency and experience with technology, analytics, and ability to communicate data effectively.

  • Experience with design and implementation of skills and competencies training programs.

  • Experience managing vendors to ensure work is delivered on time and on budget.

  • Demonstrated understanding of compliance, ethical, legal, and regulatory guidelines impacting the pharmaceutical industry, Medical Affairs, and Field Medical.

  • TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: ·

  • Ability to drive and/or fly to meetings is required.

  • Must be available to travel up to 40% of time, including some overnight and weekend.

For Location:

Massachusetts - Virtual

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$169,400.00 - $266,200.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
