Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Supervisor, assists in general maintenance and in the installation, maintenance and repairs of normal and essential electrical systems for the hospital and associated properties.

  1. Completes assigned work orders and/or PMs in a timely manner or informs supervisor of any problems accomplishing a task.

  2. Tasks include but are not limited to - repairs, install, replaces and tests electrical circuits, equipment and appliances, power distribution panels, starters, motor control panels, circuit breakers, transfer switches, emergency generator systems, nurse call systems, pneumatic tube system, transformers, motors, etc.

  3. Immediately identifies and informs supervisor of any malfunctioning equipment.

  4. Achieves to reduce maintenance and utility costs through improved operational procedures.

  5. Helps to maintain a clean, safe and organized work area.

  6. Maintains a professional attitude toward patients, visitors and staff at all times.

  7. Varies work schedule or shift to meet the department staffing needs.

  8. Works overtime only with approval or when requested by Supervisor.

  9. Schedules all vacation and personal holidays with prior supervisory approval.

  10. Performs other duties as required by Supervisor.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent

  • Trade School Preferred

License:

  • Journeyman License Required

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be able to perform electrical as well as minor HVAC and mechanical repairs.

  • Must be able to read blue prints.

  • Must have some minor computer skills (work order systems).

  • Must have good communication skills.

  • Must have general knowledge or willing to learn equipment associated with the support of a hospital. Equipment included but not limited to: vacuum pumps, medical air compressors, chillers and emergency power.

  • Must be able to perform task without supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Have at least 3 years commercial or industrial electrical experience.

  • Have at least 1 year of practical experience in an accredited hospital Facilities department.

Pay Range

$23.98 - $34.78 /hour
