Description:

General food service duties involving the preparation and serving of food to various customers, including patients, visitors, staff and providers.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Receives and records information regarding patient admissions, discharges, transfers, and diet changes.

• Maintains and updates patient records for each meal.

• Effectively interacts with Nursing staff, patients and their families.

• Demonstrates thorough knowledge of therapeutic diets and diet modification.

• Prepares food following standardized recipes.

• Follows pre-determined portion when serving food.

• Sets up and monitors food bar.

• Operates cash register/debit computer system.

• Complies with all sanitation standards.

• Cooperates with others and works as a team member.

• Completes special jobs as assigned by the Supervisor.

EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED.

EXPERIENCE: Food Service experience preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledgeable in good food handling and sanitation procedures. Proper phone etiquette. Must be able to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions in English. Can accurately quantify recipes. Demonstrates excellent money handling skills. Must have excellent customer service skills. Positive attitude that embraces MercyOne Newton’s Cultural Beliefs.
