The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Division of General Medicine is seeking a Research Worker to conduct NIH funded research. This position involves telephone recruitment and follow-up survey administration for MESA and other studies in the Division of General Medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct recruitment, retention, and follow-up activities for participants in the MESA cohort and other studies within the Division.
  • Obtain consent, conduct telephone interviews, and coordinate visit schedules.
  • Schedule participant study visits for follow-up examinations.
  • Administer structured questionnaires during telephone interviews.
  • Track returned questionnaires and participant correspondence.
  • Ensure the completeness and accuracy of data collected in questionnaires.
  • Generate reports and maintain organized records pertaining to interviews, examinations, schedules, and other MESA-related activities.
  • Accompany participants during study visits and examinations.
  • Gather physical measurements such as blood pressure and anthropometry during in-person examinations.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree and at least one year experience, or Bachelor's degree and at least three years of related experience or equivalent in education, training and experience.
  • Previous experience in clinical research.
  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish (speaking and reading).
  • Attention to detail, reliability, and accountability.
  • Strong interpersonal and telephone communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including MS Office.
  • Proactive approach in assuming responsibility for recruitment, retention, and follow-up activities within the studies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with basic medical terminology.

Other Requirements

  • The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo a drug screening test prior to a final offer of employment being made
  • Participation in the medical surveillance program
    • Contact with patients and/or human research subjects
    • Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure
  • Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
