What You’ll Be Doing

CIBC National Accounts (“CIBC NA”) consists of a team of dedicated banking professionals within CIBC’s Commercial Bank with expertise in senior cash-flow lending to upper middle-market businesses in Canada. CIBC NA professionals specialize in structuring and managing larger credit facilities and syndicated transactions. The goal of the group is to expand CIBC’s market share in this important segment of the Canadian Commercial Banking landscape. Our focus is on providing our clients creative financing solutions, value-added ideas and industry leading service by delivering the full suite of CIBC’s product offerings.

As a Senior Manager, National Accounts you will join CIBC to manage and grow a portfolio of upper middle-market clients by proactively developing new business opportunities and ensuring clients’ banking needs are being met at the highest level. Reporting to the Director and Team Lead, the Senior Manager will be responsible for business development activities, client coverage, loan underwriting and portfolio management. They will work with a number of internal and external partners to support a wide range of clients, and to drive cross-selling efforts as well as business development activities.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Client First - Well-developed client and relationship management skills. You engage with purpose to find the right solutions for clients, and to deliver creative financing solutions and value-added ideas.

  • Relationship Building – Working closely with the Team Lead you will develop and maintain client relationships through business development activities, leveraging referral sources, existing clients and centers of influence.

  • Credit Management – You will structure and negotiate credit and cash management arrangements with clients, perform comprehensive financial/non-financial due diligence and risk assessment of credit proposals. Negotiate the terms and conditions with both clients and internal CIBC stakeholders.

  • Collaborate – Working with internal partners, including Investment Banking, Corporate Solutions, and Cash Management, to connect clients with new business opportunities and lead financing proposals.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate experienced in. - You have 10+ years of professional experience in commercial credit (Corporate or Commercial Banking) and/or related fields. You have experience with relationship management, loan assessment, industry and competitive analysis and negotiation skills.

  • You have a degree in. - You have completed a Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field degree. MBA, CFA or other relevant professional designation preferred.

  • You are goal oriented. - You're driven to succeed. You are highly motivated to accomplish your goals and deliver your best to make an impact for clients.

  • You give meaning to data. You have strong presentation skills - You have above average written and verbal communication skills to present financial information to clients and internal stakeholders.

  • You act like an owner. - You have strong business acumen – You have a thorough understanding of corporate finance theories and practices and well-developed financial analysis skills. You have excellent organizational and time management skills to deal with multiple and sometimes conflicting demands and time constraints. Excellent adaptability and flexibility to deal with a rapidly changing environment.

  • You're fluent in French and English to serve our clients in the community.
