Directs and coordinates one or more segments of the organization's day-to-day operations in a nonmanufacturing environment/industry | Manages the development, implementation and enhancement of operating policies, processes and procedures that affect the organization's short- and long-range goals and strategies | Plans and coordinates operations and special projects in multiple areas (e.g., short- to long-term planning, joint ventures, business development, internal communications, budgeting) | Responsibilities are typically diverse and vary according to the organization's changing needs; this discipline is not typically classified into a single Function (e.g., Engineering, Finance, Human Resources) General Profile Supervises the daily activities of a small to medium-sized, routine business or technical support, and/or production team and is accountable for the results of the team Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion, coordinates work activities with other supervisors Solves problems based on practice and precedent Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and the local business plan; receives guidance and oversight from manager Trains team members and provides input to employee performance evaluations Typically does not spend more than 20% of time performing the work supervised Recommended Skills Functional Knowledge: Requires understanding and application of operational procedures and practices within own area Business Expertise: Understands how the team relates to other closely related teams to improve efficiency of own team Leadership: Accountable for the results of small to medium-sized routine support, production, or operations team. Problem Solving: Uses practice and precedent to resolve day-to-day problems. Identifies and selects solutions through the application of acquired (technical) experience and is guided by precedents Impact: Impacts the level of service and the team’s ability to meet quality, volume, and timeliness objectives within their area Guided by local business needs and established practices Interpersonal Skills: Uses tact and diplomacy to exchange information and address sensitive issues.

Accountabilities:

  • Typically supervises 15 employees

  • Manage and assign work daily for staff. Monitor accuracy of work. Mentor/provide assistance to team.

  • Participate in annual review process.

  • Ensure all work is completed according to established policies, procedures, and standards. Assist staff in adhering to work schedules and projects proceed according to plans/specifications.

  • Ensure all processes have been adequately validated.

  • Document staff actions including training. Conduct performance appraisals according to established processes. Provide team feedback and follow up. Identify need for, provide and assure team is properly trained for assigned tasks.

  • Oversee, and as needed, support staff in activities to ensure timeliness and accuracy of relative output.

  • Review, develop and implement process improvements, departmental goals and objectives.

  • Participate in business related meetings and follow up on discussion items related to area of responsibility.

  • Resolve day to day issues with support of Manager.

  • Represent department on cross-functional project teams.

  • Manage customer relationships; internal and external.

  • Prepare reports as requested.

  • Complete other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field

  • 2 – 3 years relevant experience

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to effectively collaborate across all levels of the organization

  • Proven success at managing change

  • Strong organizational, prioritization and delegation skills

  • Proven problem solving and analytical skills

  • Detail oriented and project management skills
