Wondered how Amazon designs its transportation network to scale and reliably deliver hundreds of millions of package to customer’s doorsteps? If so, Amazon’s Trans Systems Analytics (TSA) team is for you.

We use mathematical models, business analytics, algorithm design and statistics to improve decision-making capabilities across Operations and Amazon Logistics. Our objective is to create a reference for what the ideal transportation network looks like and build scalable audit mechanisms to assess and reduce the gap to the current network. We do so by treating system defects as gifts and solve anomalies in systems and their behavior to achieve business goals.

We are based out of the EU headquarters in Luxembourg and looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer to innovate and enhance our outbound network optimization and management products.

Transportation Systems analyst is responsible for identifying delivery accuracy, speed and cost improvement opportunities that pertains to the interaction between our promise, planning and fulfillment execution systems. It requires advanced analytical and Business Intelligence Engineering (BIE), a deep knowledge of complex inter-related fulfillment systems, as well as the ability to act as a technology leader and influence across functions.

A day in the life

In this job, you will:

  • Develop hands-on expertise of Amazon’s data resources, analytical and simulation tools

  • Work with Senior Engineers and Research Scientists across multiple teams and develop a broad deep knowledge of Amazon’s Supply Chain Optimization Technology

  • Provide quantitative and qualitative analysis on a daily basis, root causing key performance indicators, ahead of WBRs.

  • Drive strategic upward product communications (e.g., decision narratives, investment proposals) internally or externally in multiple organizations

  • Harmonize discordant views to find the best way forward and avoid being stuck in “analysis paralysis”.

  • Mentor more junior analysts, improving their data mining skills and ultimately, ability to deliver results.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc.

  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools

  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines

  • Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab

  • Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling

  • Experience with SQL

  • Experience in the data/BI space

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree

  • Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift

  • Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
