Position Overview

We’re looking for an experienced Technical Specialist in our new electronics and embedded systems laboratory at our headquarters in Lisle, IL. This Technical Specialist will work on electrical and electronics hardware, electrical vehicle powertrain, advanced systems architecture and reliability and quality.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineering teams with electronics testing

• Organizing and scheduling work requests

• Maintenance of equipment, including inventory management and calibration. Responsible for identifying equipment and materials needed for testing

• Building small prototypes including cables, small circuit assemblies and adept with working with printed circuit boards, associated components

• Familiar with how to set up and run electronics lab equipment; examples include Thermotron programing, transient-tester setup, spectrum analyzer configurations

• Develop test bench mockups

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

• At least 12 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies and/or computer science experience

• At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies

OR

• Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

• At least 8 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies and/or computer science experience

• At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies

OR

• PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

• At least 5 years of experience in product design/development or new technologies or specialized technologies and/or computer science experience

• At least 2 years of experience leading new technologies or specialized technologies

Additional Requirements

• Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills

• Knowledge of electronics principles

• Use of common electrical diagnostic tools, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.

• Attention to detail and analytical skills including troubleshooting and problem-solving

• Reading schematics and complex instructions

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Fluent with common MS office programs and ability to quickly adapt to proprietary software suites
