Your Role 

We are looking to hire a dynamic technical trainer manager to deliver and create training programmes for Grass Valley. Your primary role includes, driving the delivery of the training strategy and to create training programs to improve the skills, productivity, quality of work and performance for our customers and employees. You will also be liaising with Grass Valley’s talent manager to coordinate technical training for employees. Creating training materials and implementing customer and staff training programmes, whilst managing the delivery and measuring the impact on customer and employee performance.  This role will be up to 50% travel in the UK & Europe with opportunities to train world-wide. 

The main purpose of the job is: 

  • Design, develop, and deliver self-generated content and curricula for the GV learning platform, documentation and other training collateral with the training team to support knowledge sharing programs for both internal and external customers on our product portfolio, primarily hosted within our online training tool. 

  • Establish and develop a revenue generating customer (user) product training function 

  • Identify KPIs and monitor, evaluate, and record training activities and program effectiveness 

  • Develop and maintain an inventory of Grass Valley and external contract resource to facilitate in person training for key strategic customers where required across our product portfolio. 

  • Keep up to date with the latest training trends, developments and best practices 

  • Creating training materials and programs on Grass Valleys Learning Management System (LMS) to address specific business objectives throughout our product range 

  • Writing monthly reports, keeping training records and managing training budgets 

  • Working closely with R&D to update product knowledge and materials on an ongoing basis 

  • Implement strategies to share information between GV teams and between Training team members 

  • Assist with Technical certification programs internally, for partners and customers 

  • Become an expert trainer and deliver training courses both externally and internally 

  • Working with your team to ensure achievement of training objectives 

  • Monitoring and assessing the effectiveness and success of training programs both externally and internally 

  • Assist with curating content for our partners via partner portal 

  • Manage, support and coordinate use of remote Training systems in our worldwide demo centres and labs 

What you’ll need to be successful 

  • Proven training experience in video editing and recording, editing and publishing learning content, IP video and video streaming 

  • Experience developing, implementing and editing training programs 

  • Knowledge of training methods including coaching, workshops, mentoring and e-learning programmes  

  • Demonstrate classroom management skills such as effective presentation, checking for understanding, listening to students, building audience rapport and demonstrating cultural sensitivity. 

  • Ability to track the performance of training programmes, write reports and recommend strategies for improvements 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

  • Experienced IT and leadership skills 

  • Strong organisation, planning and time management skills 

  • Attention to detail and critical thinking skills 

  • Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate and answer questions about product content and relevant scientific information 

Education & training requirements 

  • An in-depth knowledge of our industry. This is important as it gives you the authority and expertise to train others. You must also be adept at identifying and measuring the gaps in customer and employee development strategies and developing ways to improve results. We’re looking for lifelong learners who are ahead of their industry. You should know the latest technologies, trends and developments in the field and adjust training programmes to reflect the changes. You should demonstrate excellent problem solving skills and think creatively to come up with novel ways of solving specific challenges. 

  • Experience balancing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting aggressive timelines 

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience 

  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills 

  • Strong project management and organizational skills 

  • Flexibility and resourcefulness to manage changing business requirements, projects, and resources, adapting accordingly and positively 

  • Ability to simplify technical or complex information and tasks into friendly, simple language 

  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in technology major with minor in communications, or a related field (i.e., technical/communications certifications are also acceptable). 

  • Excellent oral, written, analytic, and organizational skills. 

  • Detail oriented, and able to think and train in context with the target audience. 

  • Ability to mentor and influence without authority. 

  • Self-motivated and effective in a fluid environment. 

  • Must possess creativity and a sense of humour.
