System Engineer – Microsoft Configuration Manager – SCCM

Overview

As a System Engineer, you will design, implement, and maintain our organization's Microsoft infrastructure, focusing on end user facing technologies (workplace) with an additional emphasis on server vulnerability management. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a reliable, secure, and scalable environment that meets the needs of our business. Your main focus will be to manage and maintain the Microsoft Configuration Manager (ConfigMgr/SCCM) Environment and to manage the monthly Windows Server patching process.

You Are

  • Someone with a solid understanding of technology related to and supporting Microsoft technologies with a focus Microsoft Configuration Manager.

  • Someone that can own the entire processes, especially the Windows Server Patching process, from beginning to the end results.

  • Continuously recommend and implement process and workflow improvements.

  • Someone that is detail oriented and organized to successfully communicate results.

  • Someone that can execute by demonstrating solid focus and determination to overcome obstacles and get results.

You Have

  • 5+ years of experience in designing, building, implementing, and maintaining Microsoft centric environments.

  • Proficient in PowerShell scripting and automation techniques to streamline administrative tasks and improve operational efficiency.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications (Microsoft Configuration Manager) are highly desirable.

  • Proven experience as a Microsoft Engineer, specializing in modern management and ConfigMgr, with a track record of successfully delivering Microsoft-based solutions in an enterprise environment.

  • In-depth knowledge of Windows 11 and other Microsoft operating systems, as well as Active Directory, Group Policy, and related technologies.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work within defined timelines.

  • At least 5 years of experience in managing and securing Windows servers, including applying security patches, hardening, and monitoring.

  • Plus: Expertise in deploying and leading Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune) including software distribution, patch management, application packaging, and configuration management.

  • Plus: Understanding of modern management concepts, such as Cloud Management Gateway, Co-Management, AutoPilot and Comp Portal.

  • Plus: Management of in-house Citrix infrastructure.

You will

  • Manage and update the ConfigMgr environment, ensuring its availability, performance, and security.

  • Plan and execute the security patch deployments for Windows servers, following the best practices and policies. This will require working some night and weekends.

  • Document and maintain the configuration and inventory of the Windows servers and ConfigMgr environment.

  • Research and implement new technologies and solutions that can improve the efficiency and security of the Windows servers and ConfigMgr environment.

  • Provide technical expertise and support for Microsoft-related issues, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem resolution.

  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts or other automation tools to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency.

  • Monitor system performance and proactively identify areas for improvement, making recommendations and implementing solutions as needed.

  • Document system configurations, processes, and procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure the accuracy of the environment's documentation.

  • Participate in on-call rotations and provide timely resolution of critical incidents or service disruptions related to Microsoft technologies.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, identify areas for improvement and developing and implementing plans to drive change.

  • Actively participate in Workplace SAFe Agile Release Train.

  • Actively document and manage design documentation and standard operating procedures. Govern process & procedures while meeting or exceeding audit and other controls.

  • Take ownership of technical escalations with balancing a security attitude with customer experience.

  • Work with vendors, clients, carriers and technical staff and perform other duties as assigned.

Location & Travel:

  • Hybrid Remote- 2 Days a week at a Guardian Location in Bethlehem, PA or Holmdel, NJ.

  • Travel to other offices as needed 20%

Salary Range

$76,050.00 - $124,935.00

The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
