Job Description:

The University of Florida (“UF”) is seeking an Extension Agent II for Fruit and Vegetable Production at UF IFAS, in Hillsborough County, with duties and responsibilities to include teaching, research, extension, and service. Teaching duties involve developing educational programs for the fruit and vegetable agricultural producers and related industries as well as communicating scientific research information to non-expert audiences. Extension educational programs include crop production, integrated pest management (IPM), pesticide use and safety, and precision agriculture.

Position is also responsible for providing consultations and advising producers on all crop production-related matters to solve problems/issues, increase production, save water, optimize fertility, and boost profitability; offering leadership for university researchers to best address agriculture industry production needs; and seeking stakeholders' feedback and conducting or collaborating in research efforts to address their needs.

Position will also be responsible for maintaining a strong professional relationship with stakeholders (agricultural producers, university research faculty, chemical and fertilizer companies, government and state employees, and agricultural services providers).

Travel is required in and out of Hillsborough County, with occasional (appx. 4 – 5 per year) overnight trips and irregular hours as well as weekly night and weekend work.

Minimum Requirements:

Position requires a Bachelor'sdegree or higher in Horticultural Sciences, Plant Medicine, or a related field.
