As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be collaborating cross-functionally with various business and data analytics teams to understand their needs for data and create an extract that satisfies business requirements. The Senior Data Engineer is essential for providing robust data solutions and contribute by creating data strategy plans. Working alongside the Consumer Analytics team, you’ll have the opportunity to help making decisions easier for members and helping members save on healthcare costs. Primary Responsibilities of the Senior Data Engineer:

  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines, to ingest, transform, and store healthcare data from various enterprise data sources

  • Participate in discussions with clinical and operational teams to understand their data challenges and develop data-driven solutions

  • Analyse raw data sources, data transformation, structural requirements for new software and application

  • Build and implement data quality checks and ensure data integrity throughout the processing pipeline

  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements, such as: data encryption, data de-identification to ensure data security, role-based data access, automating manual processes, optimising data delivery and/or tuning and optimising data processes for greater scalability

  • Design, build and implement automation processes for production release of data engineering, machine learning and business intelligence processes

  • Design, code, test, document, and maintain high-quality and scalable Big Data solutions

  • Define security and backup strategy for data solutions

  • Design, build and implement real time / near real time data pipelines

  • Write technical documentation

Required Qualifications of the Senior Data Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent industry experience

  • Strong understanding of data architecture, data modelling and data warehousing principles

  • Hands on experience with cloud technologies and data warehousing principles

  • Proficient in SQL and experience with an object oriented/object functional scripting language: Python, Scala, Java etc.

  • Demonstrable experience working within Snowflake database

Preferred Qualifications of the Senior Data Engineer:

  • Successful track record in leading technical teams

  • Experience in medical claims data including hospital, ancillary, and physician

  • Experience with tools such as Databricks, Airflow, GitHub actions, Azure cloud environment (Data Factory, Key Vault etc.)

  • Strong understanding of Agile methodology

  • Experience with Apache Kafka

  • Experience working with Kimball, Data Vault
