Position Summary:

Sovah Danville is seeking a full-time Mammography Tech under the direction of the manager and the medical direction of the radiologists, the lead technologist is responsible for supervising associates in his/her section, coordinating the workflow, and performing patient studies. Performs mammography procedures in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

  • Determines, coordinates, and supervises daily staffing assignments and levels.
  • Provide direction, orientation, training, coaching, and mentoring to staff.
  • Assists in the scheduling of imaging procedures in their area.
  • Performs staff responsibilities as needed to fulfill required service levels.
  • Review patient history and physician's orders.
  • Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
  • When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within the scope of practice.
  • Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
  • May assist physician with performing interventional procedures including fine needle aspiration and needle localization.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies.
  • Select appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
  • Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
  • Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Participates in ensuring compliance with the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) regulations and applicable accreditations.
  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s), biopsies, stereotactic and special procedures.
  • Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.
  • Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning the patient and repeating the procedure.
  • Enters, transmits, and reports scan results.
  • Keeps current with BiRad and follow-ups on all patients.
  • Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.

RequiredCertifications/Licenses:

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required.
  • Licensed by the VA Department of Health as a Radiologic Technologist required. Drag
