The Payments – Settlments team at PayPal is committed to powering PayPal with the core services to deliver future of money today. We are currently seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Settlement Engineering team under the Payments vertical.
We are currently seeking a Manager to lead the Settlement Engineering team under the Payments vertical. The engineering manager scope includes leading Dev and QA Infrastructure and associated people manager responsibilities.
Build and maintain a high performing, empowered Engineering team
Set strategic vision for the function; plan and execute to achieve the vision
Introduce innovative support models to support Dev, QA, Operations, Business and Product Owners
Team Management -- Lead, manage, hire, empower the team. Anticipate the changing demands for skills; select the best people for the future.
Communicate verbally and in writing within team and across and up the organization to appropriate stakeholders. Ensure that team is energized, unified, and moving towards a common goal.

Build cross-functional relationships with PayPal Product development teams
Develop extensive knowledge of the functional area, business strategies, company priorities and the industry
Design the team structure to be resilient to business demand changes and provide consistent performance and focus in all the critical areas.
Identify creative ways to “Do more with less” and delivering on business critical needs
Use a data-driven approach to drive the success of the team; Measure and publish metrics
7+ years of experience in software development designing and implementing scalable, fault tolerant components on the Unix platform
Expert level skills developing object oriented, database-driven software in C++ and Java J2EE
Expertise in online payments and related domains is a plus
Experience with unit testing (preferably Google Test) and tools
Knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL
Strong problem solving skills and a passion for debugging complex issues
Proficiency with at least one scripting language (Perl, Python, Unix Shell Script etc.)
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Experience supporting a high volume operations environment
Experience as a development lead
