Job Summary :

This position is responsible for providing architecture guidance and supporting technology governance for the Oracle Human Capital Management (HCM) platform in Southern Company’s Enterprise Foundations organization within the Technology Organization. This position will provide guidance and influence through active participation in platform governance, Agile delivery processes, and architecture support for the Human Capital Management (HCM) platform for Human Resources and Payroll, and a shared platform with Accounting, Finance, and SCM. This individual will define technology standards, develop technology roadmaps, enforce technology governance, develop guidelines for developers, and ensure best practice coordination across our teams. This position will report to the Manager, Architecture.

Job Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Business, or another related field.

  • 5+ years’ experience working with application development methodologies/processes and technologies within an enterprise business application footprint. Strong preference given to candidates with experience providing support and maintenance activities for Oracle Cloud-based technology.

  • 5+ years of experience with enterprise application architecture across on-premises and cloud solutions

  • 5+ years of experience creating technical documentation, including system design documents, system integrations or interface designs, business impact assessments, production operations manuals, and disaster recovery or continuity of operations plans.

  • 3+ years of experience with Human Capital Management (HCM) platform architecture, design, and support. Preference given to experience with Oracle Cloud HCM environments.

  • Focus on continuous learning and improvement, and ability to educate the product delivery and enabling features on the direction of the platforms and products relative to the Human Capital Management (HCM) platform.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with technical peers, including research or data gathering, analysis, and problem solving and translate complex technical subject matter into simplified information for managers and users.

  • Ability to establish and maintain productive client relationships and develop relationships in a multi-disciplinary, geographically diverse, and matrixed team setting.

  • Ability to exhibit flexibility, adaptability, and innovation in a dynamic client environment.

  • Experience maintaining any enterprise-level system.

Major Job Responsibilities :

  • Platform Governance

  • Participate in the execution of platform governance for the Human Capital Management (HCM) platform for technical change management with our product delivery and enablement teams.

  • Interact with our strategic vendors for the Human Capital Management (HCM) platform, how they align to our technical ecosystem, and engage in strategic planning on new products entering this ecosystem with our business partners and other architects.

  • Standards Development

  • Establishing and maintaining technical standards across the Human Capital Management (HCM) platform used by the Enterprise Foundation organization. These standards will need to be documented, published, and maintained. Processes should account for adherence to documented standards where possible.

  • Documenting leading practices for the implementation and support of the Human Capital Management (HCM) platform leveraged by the Enterprise Foundations organization.

  • Drive complex designs across new technical platforms or modules for the Human Capital Management (HCM) platform as they are introduced and ensure we have the proper engagement from the vendor’s technical engineers and alignment with the appropriate architects within our organization.

  • Contribute to the delivery of a comprehensive technology roadmap within the organization and translate the technical architecture into a business value proposition for the senior leaders to understand, review, and approve.

  • Ensure the development of non-functional requirements with enabling team resources to ensure the Human Capital Management (HCM) platform in use will meet business objectives and establish service level agreements.

  • Continuous Learning and Improvement

  • Research product roadmaps for upcoming releases and features for next 3-18 months.

  • Obtain and maintaining relevant certifications as agreed upon with management.

  • Investigate and develop proof of concepts in partnership with product delivery and enablement teams on new approaches to leveraging technology. Learnings should be shared with fellow architects and Enterprise Foundations team members at regular intervals.

  • Effective Communication

  • Develop written and verbal communications effectively for delivery teams and leadership, messaging technical content in a manner relevant to business understand, and support governance activities to manage technical change that drives cost and business impact.

  • Provide continuous education to delivery and enabling teams on platform and product roadmaps, product features, and best practices relative to the technologies.

  • Technical Guidance

  • Provide consultation services to our Product Managers and their leadership team on any platform or technology changes, technology roadmap development, and standards / best practices reviews.

  • Drive technology assessments of systems during merger, acquisition, or disposition activities leveraging the appropriate resources within our team to complete reviews, document differences, and make recommendations to the Product Managers

  • Other duties as assigned by leadership.
