Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking an early-career data scientist to join our team in Bentonville, Arkansas. The ideal candidate should be passionate about pursuing practical solutions to complex problems, driven by supporting mathematical model development to aid in real-world government and military operations. This position requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, structure and organize data efficiently, and provide team members with reliable analyses.

The successful candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team of professionals developing mathematical models to solve critical problems of national importance.

What you’ll do as a Data Scientist 1:

• Automate mining and collection processes from identified data sources

• Investigate and identify new data sources

• Pre-process structured and unstructured data prior to analysis

• Validate data integrity

• Analyze data to support model development needs with your team including:

• Statistical data driven modeling

• Theory driven modeling

• Hybrid theory/data driven modeling

• Employ machine-learning algorithms and utilize ensemble modeling techniques

• Present findings and data-supported insight to collaborative modeling team

• Collaboratively support engineering and operations teams to deploy models into production environments

Required qualifications:

• Master’s degree, or Bachelor’s degree with 2-4 years of experience, or High School diploma with 8-10 years of experience

• Strong written and verbal interpersonal communication skills

• Proven excellent attention to detail

• Demonstrated high degree of organization

• US citizen with the ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance

• Willingness to relocate to Bentonville, Arkansas Preferred qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science

• Real-world experience with data mining

• Experience with mathematical modeling

• Experience with numerical methods
