Google Trust and Safety Analyst, Geo in Bengaluru, India

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5 years of experience in Data Analytics, Internet Industry, Intelligence, Cyber Security, Research, Risk and Fraud Investigation, or relevant fields.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience producing and leveraging analysis of malicious, criminal, and/or violent actors (i.e., states, groups, and separate) in cyberspace.

  • Experience working in cross-functional projects across organizational boundaries.

  • Familiarity with Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) and abusive actor detection.

  • Familiarity in one or more of the following areas: Coding (e.g., C/C++, Python, Java), Databases and querying (e.g., SQL, MySQL, MapReduce, Hadoop), Front-end development (e.g., HTML, JavaScript, CSS), Statistical analysis (e.g., R, Stata, SPSS, SAS).

  • Knowledge of Internet, web-research, online advertising, fraud detection, numerical analysis, search engine optimization and e-commerce.

  • Ability to navigate ambiguity.

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. Our Trust and Safety team has the critical responsibility of protecting Google's users by assuring online safety by fighting web abuse and fraud across Google products.

In this role, you will work globally and cross-functionally to resolve complex online safety situations and manage abuse and fraud cases. You will develop and manage cross-functional relationships with Engineering, Product, Legal, Sales, and Operations teams in a multifaceted effort to improve our processes for identifying and resolving policy and quality issues. You will investigate various fraud trends, account-related abuse, questionable business practices, violations of Google's policies, and general misuse of Geo products. You will leverage technology to have an impact on improving the experience of Google users.

We partner with teams across Google to deliver bold solutions in abuse areas such as malware, spam and account hijacking. A diverse team of Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers, we work to reduce risk and fight abuse across all of Google’s products, protecting our users, advertisers, and publishers across the globe in over 40 languages.

  • Lead initiatives focused on understanding emerging threat vectors for Google Maps and consistently surface insights around tactics techniques and procedures to inform and influence risk mitigation strategy.

  • Develop scalable solutions to mitigate fraud and abuse in Maps user generated content.

  • Build robust cross-functional partnerships with product, policy, and engineering teams working on risks related to sensitive content and fraud to understand product direction and make sure execution matches.

  • Manage multiple interdependent projects of moderate to high complexity and scope. Collaborate with engineering and product teams to design and manage projects that support scalable automated detection and mitigation.

  • Investigate abuse issues to understand abuse actor behavior, reverse engineer the attack and identify abuse patterns. Design and conduct pen tests, red team exercises and product threat analysis to uncover vulnerabilities.
