dsm-firmenich is currently seeking an in-house counsel to join its Corporate Advisory legal team, mainly supporting direct and indirect Procurement across dsm-firmenich’s four business units and various corporate functions (such as Marketing and Communication, HR, Real Estate, Mobility and Facility Services) on a global level.

The position is based in Barcelona, Spain. The successful candidate will report to the Procurement Senior Legal Counsel.

Your key responsibilities

This position will involve the following responsibilities and skills:

  • Draft, review, negotiate and advise on contracts and contract related documents in order to (i) appropriately implement the chosen (commercial) position of dsm-firmenich and protect the company against potential exposures; (ii) achieve, by liaising with commercial and other involved stakeholders, a thorough understanding of specific opportunities, risks, dangers, regulations and obligations relating to the matters at hand; and (iii) ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and relevant policies of dsm-firmenich.

  • Act as value adding business partner by understanding the underlying business processes, activities and strategies.

  • Enhance compliance with applicable laws and regulations and pro-actively create and maintain the employees’ awareness thereof, inter alia by regularly providing trainings.

  • Ensure consistent implementation of relevant corporate requirements and high-quality legal advice.

  • Keep up to date with actual developments in relevant legislation and jurisprudence.

  • Effectively collaborate with other legal teams, especially the Business Unit Legal Departments and the Regional Legal Departments.

You bring

  • 5+ years PQE (Post Qualification Experience), with in-house experience preferred.

  • Law degree from a European Law School.

  • Bar Exam, LLM or a similar international qualification is a plus.

  • Business fluency in English is a must, knowledge of any other language a plus, especially business fluency in French.

  • Solid experience in drafting and negotiating agreements with suppliers in English.

  • A strong personality, at ease with communicating in international settings featuring various cultures, a solid backbone and a decisive, pro-active attitude.

  • Capability to swiftly capture key legal issues and risks.

  • Structured legal mindset and able to translate legal language into actionable and solution-oriented advice.
