CareFirst Lead Risk Management Analyst - Enterprise Risk Management (Hybrid) in Baltimore, Maryland

PURPOSE:

The Lead Risk Management Analyst provides leadership and subject matter expertise for risk management lifecycle and key risk treatment strategies critical to the management of risk exposure of the overall organization. Specifically, the Lead Risk Management Analyst is responsible for planning and supporting the oversight of the enterprise risk management program designed to ensure the identification, assessment, treatment, and monitoring of enterprise risks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Forge relationships with business owners across the enterprise to serve as the subject matter expert in the identification, assessment, and treatment of risks.

  • Facilitate meetings with cross functional leaders to capture key risk insights and perform detailed risk analysis including risk interdependencies, impact of risks on strategic goals and objectives, and managements preparedness and capability to respond to and manage risks.

  • Perform deep dive assessment of top enterprise risk to document the key mitigation strategies and risk treatment plans in place, assess the actual and target residual risk, and define the key risk indictors and monitoring strategies for top risks.

  • Contribute to the development of enterprise-wide training and awareness materials that educate associates and leadership on best practices, pervasive operational risk management issues, and risk management tools and processes.

  • Plan, coordinate and execute monthly enterprise risk workgroup and committee meetings to facilitate discussion around risk related topics amongst a broader stakeholder group.

  • Partner with relevant stakeholder groups to ensure alignment of program methodology and the identification of risks to the organizations strategic goals and objectives.

  • Collaborate with business owners across the enterprise to define and operationalize the risk appetite framework and document risk tolerance for top risk domains.

  • Lead the teams efforts to prepare quarterly reports and dashboards that are provided to governance committees, senior leadership, and the Board of Directors to provide updates on trends in risk exposure of top enterprise risks.

  • Support, guide and mentor ERM staff in the completion of activities and goals for the ERM department.Lead multiple workstreams simultaneously, including monitoring progress of projects/activities, escalating execution risks, problem solving when delays arise, and completing weekly status reports for leadership review.May be asked to perform additional administrative tasks to support the program as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Position does not have direct reports but is expected to assist in guiding and mentoring less experienced staff. May lead a team of matrixed resources.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

Experience : 8 years of work experience in operational and enterprise risk management, audit, corporate governance, and/or a compliance role.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Understanding of legal requirements and health insurance operations; knowledge of organization of business areas being supported; relevant risk or business certification (e.g., CPA, CIA, CISA, RIMs).

  • Background/experience in establishing and implementing enterprise risk management frameworks and/or programs.

  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with all levels of personnel throughout the organization. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Problem solver who works independently and within a team using interpersonal skills, including excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Understands and possesses general project management skills relevant to performing assessment functions and responsibilities.

  • Considerable judgement, tact, initiative, accuracy, trustworthiness and integrity.

  • Willingness to take on new projects and learn new skills.

  • Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities, strong time management and prioritization skills.

Salary Range: $88,129 - $175,032

This compensation range is specific and considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilites of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, internal peer equity, and market and business consideration. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range, as compensation decisions depend on each case's facts and circumstances, including but not limited to experience, internal equity, and location.
