Johns Hopkins University Financial Analyst in Baltimore, Maryland

This position will perform financial activities for the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, Office of the Dean. We are seeking a Financial Analyst and oversees budgeting activities in support of the Central Krieger School Finance Office.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

70% -- Financial Operations & Reporting

  • Perform financial review and analysis of assigned departments, monitor budget spending, reconcile accounts, audit transactions, and track endowment revenue.

  • Run reports for reconciling, forecasting, and trending of financial data.

  • Reconcile departmental Faculty Salary accounts and default budgets monthly.

  • Initiate, process, and act as liaison for all new faculty relocations, including,

oInformational packets.

oRelocation company communications.

oInvoices and online payment requests.

  • Works closely with the Senior Associate Dean for Strategy and Chief of Staff on budget projections and reporting related to strategic initiatives.

  • Perform reporting and forecasting of gifts/endowments.

  • Student Information System reporting/analysis Asset and depreciation monitoring.

  • Assign/review roles/security in SAP.

  • Monitor/reconcile school wide school-wide petty cash accounts.

  • Monitor and properly categorize revenue transactions based on natural class categories.

  • Prepare year-end funding entries for capital projects.

  • Maintain a quarterly endowment report in order to provide current information as needed on payouts, expenditures, and balances.

  • Assist in the maintenance of the KASPER website using WordPress.

  • Assist in annual budget template upload.

  • Create/Monitor billing to outside organizations for faculty and other non-sponsored revenue.

  • Assist departments in completing of procurement and travel card applications.

  • Review and audit department Procurement and Travel card charges monthly.

30% -- Unit Department Support

  • Oversee the financial and other administrative activities for several KSAS departments including,

oBudgets, operational reports, and projections.

oCompliance with KSAS, University, and/or agency regulations.

  • Serve as initiator and/or approver for documents such as travel, transfers, shopping carts, online payment requests, and E – forms.

  • Serve as point of contact for SAP related SAP-related issues and questions.

  • Interpret and communicate University and KSAS financial policies, practices, and procedures and assist with problem solving problem -solving.

  • Provide back-up support when the department is short-staffed.

  • Assist in training new staff members in all matters relating to the financial operations of the department.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Must be proficient in Excel and in creating customized spreadsheets for financial reporting and budget detail.

  • Must have experience putting together Power Point presentations for school and university leadership.

  • Must be comfortable utilizing technology to improve efficiency and effectiveness (Excel, SharePoint, Tableau, OnBase, Adobe, database software - Access, FileMaker or similar).

  • Must be comfortable explaining financial date data to stakeholders who do not have a background in finance or accounting.

  • Understanding of multi-fund financial reporting.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, all staff levels, and students and provide excellent customer service.

  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions with direction (as necessary) from others. Must be able to interpret technical and detailed guidelines, policies, and procedures, as well as explain or describe moderately complex information and presentation materials.

  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.

  • Demonstrated ability to use sound judgments in making decisions.

  • Must be highly efficient, able to set priorities and manage changing priorities in order toto meet deadlines.

  • Knowledge of University and KSAS financial policies, practices and procedures.

  • Prefer knowledge of all Hopkins One modules including- SAP/ECC, Analysis Reporting, CONCUR, Shopping Cart.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field.

  • Three years progressively responsible related financial/accounting experience.

  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Role/Level/Range: ATP/03/PC

Starting Salary Range: $53,300 - $73,400 - $93,500 Annually (Commensurate with experience)

Employee group: Full Time

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00pm
