We are seeking an experienced MTS 2, Software Engineer to provide strong technical leadership in solution design, architecture, and implementation of Pega PRPC based applications for PayPal Enterprise Operations. As a member of a very talented product development team in Austin, you will work closely with the business to deliver world class disputes system. Design and development work may involve business process modeling, process optimization that improves the efficiency of the Operations teams and enrich customer experiences by using Pega PRPC, Java, and Web services in a highly complex and collaborative environment.


  • The MTS 2, Software Engineer must Design, Architect and Develop new workflows, services, and components using Pega PRPC, Java, and JavaScript

  • Maintain and enhance existing software components with highest quality

  • Actively engage in Enterprise Architecture discussions to deliver efficient, scalable applications on a well-thought-out design foundation

  • Employ technical expertise to help team members overcome technical problems; be the technical leader, coach and mentor other engineers

  • Adhere to release/project schedule and milestones – delivery excellence

  • The MTS 2, Software Engineer involves in all aspects of Secure Product Development life cycle

  • Challenge status quo - promote continuous application and process improvements

  • Be proactive in sharing ideas and addressing business & operational problems

  • Collaborate with others toward a shared goal

  • Build trust through open and honest communications and actions

  • Have a passion for clean and beautiful code, best design patterns with an eye for simplicity and pragmatism

  • Thorough understanding of internals of Application Server like Web Logic, Messaging capabilities in Enterprise systems, Pega application deployment process

  • Responsible for communicating to others on technical standards, principles, methodology and trends.

Job Requirements

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent is required

  • 12+ years related professional experience, delivering applications using Pega PRPC, Core Java, JEE, REST API

  • Successful development experience with high-performance, enterprise-grade software

  • Demonstrated experience working on Oracle, SQL, Linux, and scripting

  • Participate in the technical design discussions, work on enterprise architecture improvements, propose, and implement optimal solutions

Desired Skills:

  • Strong Java design and coding skills are desired with demonstrated ability to resolve complex problems

  • Knowledge of automated unit and system test strategies and frameworks

  • Must be a Pega certified Lead System Architect

  • Experience with Agile methodologies preferred

  • Familiarity with Git, Maven, Jira, and Rally preferred
